Ahh Spring… the days get longer, the grass greener… and farm and garden supply orders go through the roof!
Every year here at Peaceful Valley we know that our busiest month will be March, and we plan for it… adding staff, lengthening working hours, etc. However, each year we find ourselves even busier than we expected. The growth of the organic farming and gardening movement is incredible! Each year every indicator we look at shows that the numbers of organic growers are on the rise, even this year’s Eco-Farm conference saw record numbers. As a member of the organic movement, I draw great inspiration from this dramatic growth… However as a member of the workforce here at Peaceful Valley, I draw great exhaustion from the dramatic spike in orders every March.
Right now we are taking orders faster than we can ship them out, this results in a delay in getting some orders out to customers. There are a few things that you (as a customer) can do to avoid delays.
First off, order early… we send our catalog out in January, place your order then and you’re likely to get what you need right away.
Next, tell us when you need it… If your in a colder climate and you can’t work the soil for another month, let us know. If your ready to dig in and need your order right away, let us know… order expediting is available.
Last, plan ahead… Order now for all the things you’ll need next (fertilizer, irrigation supplies, harvesting tools), the sooner we have your order the sooner we can get it out to you.
No need to fear, if you already have an order in… we are working all kinds of overtime around here to get your orders out. Our staff is coming in early and staying late, even working weekends! This is great for your garden, it will soon have all the things it needs to get off to a great start. However, with all the late nights and weekend work we have been doing… our gardens may be starting a little late this year.
